Mr Rumulo H. Cristobal- Pricipal NCES-
This is a brief history of Nuro Central Elementary School to which the researchers interviewed some students who had graduated from this school and its retired teachers. Most of the teachers, principals and administrators, who first rendered services in this school, were from the Visayas and Luzon. As years go on, the administrative staff and teachers running the education activities of the community came from the locality of Upi and in the adjacent municipalities of Maguindanao.
According to the early settlers who came to Upi in 1927, Mr. Teodoro Sobrevega, there was no school in this present site. This was a virgin forest. The first school was built in Bugabungan. As to when the school was first opened and its staff, the researcher was unable to dig out.
According to Mrs. Regina Pangcog Dolores,in 1942-1944 was the Second World War,yet, though there were no classes, the school building was already existing. The building is made of light materials such as cogon and bamboo. As the war ended in 1945,classes resumed.Nuro Elementary School was under the supervision of Dinaig District Office, the place was under the municipality of Dinaig. In 1957, Upi became a separated municipality, so the school was named Nuro Central Elementary School. The increase of pupils was met by building semi-permanent and permanent ones. The number of teachers also increased. From 16 permanent buildings, the site had increased its edifice. A permanent concrete fence surrounded the school campus through the efforts of the PTA.
In 1971-1972, the graduating class did not have its Commencement Exercise due to the peace and order the had disturbed the community. In 1974, the Nuro Poblacion were under siege of the rebels, causing the school building to destroyed, its being burned. Classes were conducted under the shades of the trees and the closing exercises were held at the Saint Francis High School Compound. However. After a year, new school building were constructed.
The school had its 60th closing exercises last March 29, 2005 having the first closing exercise in 1945 right after the Second World War II.
